4.3) Automated Haul Road Crossing in Open Cast Mines It is a long-time awaited solution to manually operated LMV - Haul Road Crossings in opencast coal mines. In the solution, two boom barriers are to be installed on the LMV road at crossing/intersection along and AI cameras on haul road and a wireless 4G SIM based Router for enabling communication from the crossing to Control room. 4.4) Integration of Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring System – CAAQMS with ICCC A CAAQMS is an automated system designed to continuously measure and record the concentration of various air pollutants in the environment. It provides real-time air quality data for analysis, reporting, and environmental management. With a schematic diagram below, routing of parameters from a CAAQMS in field to ICCC via radio network has been depicted. The CAAQMS systems in all the opencast mines will be integrated with ICCC as an IIoT solution for continuous monitoring of environmental parameters to ensure safe environment and regulatory compliances. Conclusion: Through ICCC, WCL is setting a benchmark in the Indian coal sector by embedding smart technologies into core operational processes. The initiative has significantly improved stakeholder confidence and operational discipline. The Integrated Command and Control Centre has reduced the cost associated with deploying security intelligence manpower. IIoT projects has proven advantageous by enabling faster decision-making and improving operational efficiency in coal mining. AI/ML–based analytics are contributing to safer mining practices.
