The red scale bar corresponds to 1 mm (confidence threshold = 0.4). 3.3 Evaluation of measurements of scikit-image To assess the quality of the scikit-image results, area and major-axis diameter measurements obtained from XPL images were compared with those from PPL images. On the left, Figure 7 shows a pie chart indicating that 88% (27512 labels) of the measurements are exact. This is represented on the right as a straight-line scatter plot, indicating that scikit-image is a reliable tool for measurement. However, the remaining 12% (3577 labels) showing discrepancies require further analysis. Overall, for both areal and linear measurements, the relative error ranges between 0 and 3%. For areal measurements, larger errors were observed, with nearly half of these values exhibiting relative errors between 3 and 24%. Therefore, scikit-image shows good overall performance but is more accurate for linear measurements than for areal ones.
