This analysis allowed the evaluation of cluster representativeness and persistence over time, as well as their contribution to the overall behavior of the grinding circuit. Given that Clusters 3 and 2 account for the highest occurrence frequencies in the process, representing 57.8% and 28%, respectively, they are identified as the primary operational improvement opportunities. Critical case analysis: Cluster 1 evaluation A descriptive statistical analysis of Cluster 1 was conducted, focusing on characterizing the operational responses observed in the plant through the evaluation of central tendency and dispersion measures of the main process variables. This analysis enabled the identification of the cluster’s characteristic operational behavior, as well as its level of variability and its impact on circuit stability. Based on the statistical analysis, the following observations are identified: ● The most critical operating condition is associated with material composition. ● It exhibits the lowest processed throughput, together with reduced fines generation. ● A higher proportion of intermediate and coarse material is observed, reflecting lower comminution efficiency. ● This condition is also associated with an increase in pebble tonnage, leading to higher circulating load. ● No evidence is found of SAG speed regulation in response to this unfavorable condition. ● An increase in impact intensity is recorded, consistent with material of higher density and resistance. ● Although it represents only 3.2% of occurrences (approximately 97 operating hours), Cluster 1 constitutes a clear opportunity for operational improvement through proactive adjustments in the grinding strategy.
