The goal is to provide stakeholder visibility and timely insights with minimal manual effort. The system should replace the need for manually generating weekly progress reports, reducing human error, and freeing up team members’ time for analysis and action. With auto-updating dashboards, everyone from site supervisors to project directors can see the same information (with appropriate levels of detail) as it happens. Develop a suite of role-based dashboards for various stakeholders in the project: Executive/Management dashboard: High-level KPIs (total quantities, material received at warehouse, drawing status by discipline, cost, schedule adherence, etc.) Project Manager & Discipline Lead dashboards: More detailed performance metrics (e.g., engineering deliverables planned vs actual, bulk status report, material issued from the warehouse, installed quantities by area. Functional dashboards: For example, a steel lifecycle tracking dashboard to monitor distinct stages of the lifecycle from modeling, to engineering to detailing, to fabrication and issuance to site. Allowing to monitor progress on each step, identify and address bottlenecks more efficiently (see image below) Team-specific views: detailed view targeted to specific technical users such as material controllers, shop engineers, warehousing and others. Figure 3 – From Data Lake to Integrated Dashboards The chart above shows a typical EPC dashboard that integrates 6 different databases tracking the steel lifecycle; from engineering to construction; through 6 different databases. Providing a centralized place for engineering, expeditors, construction and management to get the same information at various levels of detail. The design of dashboards should be intuitive, focusing on key metrics and exceptions. The idea is not to overwhelm with data, but to highlight what matters. Furthermore, dashboards must be created and tailored to differently each user. Allowing them most relevant to their decisions, helping them focus on their scope without losing the big picture.
