enforcing the download and use of official files from a single platform mitigates the risk of parallel versions being inadvertently used in analyses, while multidisciplinary validation gates strengthen governance around critical technical deliverables. This paper presents the implementation of Deswik MDM at Nexa Resources' Aripuanã underground mine (Mato Grosso, Brazil), one of South America's most complex polymetallic operations. The initiative engaged 80+ users across six technical disciplines over a six-month deployment, implementing 40+ standardized workflows to structure data sources, automate routine processes, and enforce validation mechanisms. Early quantitative results demonstrate: (i) ~90% reduction in linear advance measurement cycle time; (ii) ~80% reduction in stoping reconciliation cycle time; and (iii) ~60% reduction in drilled reserve reconciliation errors. Beyond efficiency gains, we eliminated parallel file versions, reducing the probability of field decisions based on superseded technical information. The contribution of this study is twofold. First, it provides a documented, quantified case of a complex polymetallic underground operation systematically advancing its data governance maturity in alignment with Mining 4.0 principles. Second, we demonstrate how enforcing a single official source of operational files, combined with process standardization, functions simultaneously as a performance lever—by shortening information delivery cycles—and as a process safety assurance mechanism—by reducing the probability of technical decisions made on superseded or incomplete operational information. These outcomes support Nexa Resources' vision toward an Integrated Mining Enterprise (IME), positioning information governance as an enabling capability for safe, efficient, and sustainable underground mining operations. 2. SITE AND OPERATIONAL CONTEXT (ARIPUANÃ UG MINE) The Aripuanã underground mine, operated by Nexa Resources, is located in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, and represents one of the most complex polymetallic mining operations in South America (Figure 1). The mine specializes in the extraction of copper, zinc, and lead, with production volumes that position it as a critical asset within Nexa’s portfolio. The operation is characterized by its underground nature, involving advanced extraction methods such as cut-andfill stoping and longhole open stoping, which demand precise coordination across multiple technical disciplines to ensure safety, efficiency, and resource recovery.
