401 and physical-mechanical), as explained in paragraph 3. In stage 3, all the information is interpreted and cross-referenced to determine mineralogical-textural assemblages (MTAs). In Phase 2, metallurgical tests are performed on each type of MTAs. In the case of Pucamarca, these were cyanidation column tests; but in other cases, they may be leaching or flotation tests, as appropriate. Finally, in Phase 3, systematic metallurgical logging is carried out, which consists of recording, drill run by drill run, the different types of assemblies determined in Phase 2 (Fig. 5). A similar procedure is applied to determine Geological Fragmentation Units (GFUs), which are geometallurgical units that classify rocks according to their potential response to chemical comminution (blasting) and mechanical comminution (crushing and grinding). The final procedure consists of dividing the deposit into blocks and then assigning to each block a type of MTA or GFU, depending on the drills that intercept or surround it; a procedure that can be optimized through geostatistical indicator kriging procedures, since these are categorical variables. 5.2.
