Track 4: Coal

311 k3 = influence of specific cutting condition and is a function of no sumping, cutting height, cuter head oscillation, pick array, pick shape. However, for roadheader its value ranged from 3.5 – 4.5 Copur et, al. (1997, 1998) RPI =(P×W)/UCS ICR = 27.511×e0.0023×RPI Where: ICR = Instantaneous cutting rate (m3/hr) RPI = Roadheader penetration index W = Roadheader weight (te), P = Cutter head power (kw) UCS = Uniaxial Compressive Strength (MPa) 3. FIELD INVESTIGATION A continuous mine of model CAT-CM345 is studied for 19 different types of application in indian coal mines. The continuous miner was 74.8 tonne weight and was fitted with 2×186 kW motor power for coal cutting. Cutting drum of 1.118 m dia was fitted with 66 picks and was running maximum of 45 rpm. The instantaneous cutting rates are measured along with the physico-mechanical properties. The physico-mechanical properties are taken from the mine authority, which was basically derived from the laboratory testing of the samples taken from the mines. The field data are provided in Table 3. Table 3 –Physico-mechanical properties and machine cutting performance of continuous miner S.No .
