It is recommended that ground control plans for new projects include provisions for pre-grouting or remedial injections from the outset, rather than treating them as last-resort measures. In closing, injection and consolidation techniques have matured into proven methods that solve some of the most pressing challenges in underground mining. As mines pursue deeper and more complex orebodies, the strategic use of these technologies will be a key factor in achieving both safety and profitability. By treating the ground itself as something that can be improved and strengthened (not just supported externally), the mining industry can continue to advance into challenging frontiers with confidence. The experiences shared in this paper should encourage mining engineers and managers to consider and plan for injection solutions in their operations, and to seek out knowledgeable partners like Sika to ensure these solutions are optimally designed and executed.
