OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE The objective of this work is to present the MINSUR project development framework as a guide to show how sustainability principles can be incorporated into the design of infrastructure and mines as an integral part from the early stages of development, while maintaining an attractive business case. The scope describes MINSUR's Sustainable Value Principles, Project Development Framework, and Sustainable Value Enablers, which govern the conception, evaluation, and execution of capital investment projects in the mining sector. These projects require a long-term financial commitment and must generate profitable and sustainable value, aligned with the company's strategy. 3. MINSUR´S PROJECT DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK A Capital Investment Project in the mining industry is a long-term allocation of funds to develop a business initiative from conceptual studies to its benefits realization stage. A viable investment project aims at achieving a profitable return that ensures: 1) Attractive return on the invested capital, with positive and consistent cash flows, at an acceptable risk 2) Effective capital allocation and capital efficiency 3) Positive impact on environment and society 4) Comply with the applicable standards and regulations The capital investment project is the vehicle to deliver the value expected by the implementation of the business strategy, which defines the business objectives that are the key to aligning the strategy throughout the whole portfolio of projects. The value of a mining project will be delivered in the future, so it is important to manage uncertainties and risks while developing the scope and designing the final configuration where sustainability is now
