Figure 3 – Technical constraints for the integration of electrical infrastructure into mine design. 3.3 Development of the Integrated Planning Approach Based on the baseline diagnostic and the identification of technical constraints, an integrated framework between mine planning and electrical infrastructure was established, considering power supply as a design variable within the planning process. Constraints related to maximum catenary spacing, blasting impact radii, minimum platform widths, and operating voltage levels (13.8 kV and 7.2 kV) were incorporated as conditioning criteria in the evaluation of alternatives. This approach enabled the alignment of pole locations, mobile substations, and electrical corridors with pit geometry, mining sequence, and operational accessibility for electric rope shovels. Rather than treating the electrical network as a reactive system, design principles were defined to minimize relocations, reduce exposure to blasting zones, and ensure operational continuity as the pit evolved.
