Track 6: Mining Engineering and Mine Planning

Panel characteristics: • Located 20 m below the production level of the central macroblock at an elevation of 1,803 m.a.s.l. • Teniente-type extraction mesh design with dimensions of 16x24 m • 4,307 meters of horizontal developments • 911 meters of vertical developments • Gallery section 5.2 m x 4.8 m • 7 Production drive Illustration 2: Panel Central Layout 1.2. Macroblock N42: Macroblock N42 is located to the north of macroblock N2N3 at an elevation of 1,823 meters above sea level and is currently developed with complete civil works. The macroblock is composed of eight production drives arranged in a west-east direction and separated from N41 by a central structural pillar, which not only serves a support function but also houses a mineral handling system. This system includes, at the production level, a dumping station (EVAC) designed to optimize the reception and transfer of the extracted material and, in turn, at a lower level, a crusher room is located. On the other hand, the sequence of area incorporation in the macroblock is indicated from the southeast sector to the northwest sector. Within the characteristics of the N42 macroblock are: • Total area of MB N42 50,000 m² • Lieutenant-type mesh of 16x20 • Production drive of 4.65 m x 5.40 m The construction challenges of macroblock N42 have been mainly focused on the incorporation of new designs and, therefore, new construction methodologies due to changes in the configuration of the macroblock, such as the change from the ramp to undercut level, turning the access to the ramp into an draw point and the construction of a new undercut level ramp, which implies geomechanical challenges due to possible singularities, and also logistical challenges from the point of view of access to the macroblock.
