Four priorities emerge as critical: First, the industry must collaborate differently to accelerate technology adoption. While competition remains essential, greater collaboration at the technology and systems level within clear legal boundaries can dramatically shorten learning curves and enable faster efficiency solutions. Second, this collaboration requires strong leadership. A credible, neutral champion operating through a trusted institution is needed to convene key players, align interests, and focus collective effort on shared burning challenges. Third, industry must strengthen project robustness and build a more resilient production system. Resilience cannot depend on a small number of Tier 1 assets alone. Smaller, well-executed producers are essential to create, buffering against disruption, and closing the supply gap at scale. Fourth, talent must be addressed as a strategic priority. Attracting and retaining the next generation requires rethinking where and how the industry operates. Building capacity in urban centres, closing the gap between universities and industry, and creating high-value, technology-enabled roles are essential. Designing Sustainable Prosperity offers a framework to achieve this by supporting regional development, generating high-paying jobs, and making mining a compelling career choice once again. What is now required is collective action grounded in trust, enabled by aligned incentives, and focused on long-term value creation. Collaboration, leadership, diversified production, and talent development are prerequisites to bridge the gap. 8. REFERENCES Dessart, S. (2025).
