Geological mapping became digital. New sensor technology and improved analytical methods generate valuable exploration data sets. The generation, processing, analysis, and interpretation of complex multidisciplinary exploration data sets are assisted by machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) data science approaches. New data and methods add to the geologist s toolbox, but do not replace geological mapping in the field. High-quality geological data is still crucial and remains the pivot for interpretation of all other exploration data.
