4. PROPOSED SOLUTION The FLS Intelliplate™ turbidity sensor system is designed to enable operators to accurately identify which filter plate of a filter press has a failed cloth or plate. At set intervals the sensor transmits status information to a receiver, which collects the data from all connected sensors and sends it to a processing center, PLC, or DCS. Figure 6 – Schematic for Intelliplate in plate sensors 4.1 How Detection Works Each filter plate is equipped with a turbidity sensor installed at the filtrate port. A corresponding transmitter, mounted in a visible location on the same plate, is integrated with a LED indicator. When turbidity is detected, the LED illuminates, signaling a potential cloth tear. Upon receiving a turbidity alarm, the operator can inspect the filter press and visually identify the specific plate with the active LED, thereby locating the torn filter cloth.
