Based on the above, the following results were determined: ● Antamina defined the technical feasibility of dewatering its tailings using tailings technology: cycloning-screening. ● Antamina defined the optimal mixing ratio range of 4:1 based on various field tests and trials conducted, considering geotechnical-geochemical equilibrium and operating parameters. ● Antamina determined the number of single cycloning stages needed, achieving an average moisture content of 15%, preventing liquefaction during tailings transport and storage, and a split of 65%. This minimizes the amount of fine tailings sent to the existing tailings storage facility, allowing postponement of raising the facility. ● Antamina defined the type and size of crushers to be used in the mechanized system to meet the requirements of the mining plans. ● Antamina defined the disposal plan for the Commingling project, aligned with the project phases and the unloading through trucks. ● Antamina determined that the transport of the mixture does not cause segregation due to the vibrations inherent in the mechanized system14. 5. CONCLUSIONS The Commingling technology can change current conventional Tailings Management or even eliminate or reduce the conventional dam-deposit footprint. This new approach could unlock land and environmental constraints in the mining industry: ● The Commingling project is an optimal enabler for Antamina's Life Extensions. ● The Commingling project enables optimization of Antamina's tailings strategy, which is naturally aligned with the GISTM (Global Industrial Standard for Tailings Management). ● The Commingling project is an innovative solution that contributes to improved environmental management in the mining industry by minimizing disturbed footprints. ● The optimal tailings technology for Antamina is cyclone-screening. ● The optimal ratio range for mixing was defined as 4:1 (crushed waste rock: dewatered tailings) ● Antamina requires only one cyclone stage to achieve the moisture and shear required for a homogeneous mixture, allowing for geotechnical and geochemical equilibrium. ● The Commingling project allows for postponing the raising of the dam at the current tailings storage facility because only the fine fraction (35% of total tailings production) will be sent to the tailings storage facility. 14 It will be re-confirmed in the Pilot Plant
