Track 4: Coal

118 The other four extreme rainfall events- August 2016, June 2021, September 2016, and July 2017 ranged between 500–600 mm, clearly demonstrating that the August 2024 event represents a historical outlier. This unprecedented rainfall reinforces evidence of intensifying climatic extremes, consistent with broader climate change projections. Figure 3: Top 05 Rainfall (in MM) (Monthly) data in last 10 years in NC, Compiled from NCL operational records (2015–2024) This significant increase in rainfall during August 2024 not only marks a historical high but also reinforces the evidence of intensifying climatic events. 4.3 Temperature Patterns of Singrauli region: Overview of 2024 Monthly temperature data at 2 meters above ground level for the Singrauli region was collected from the NASA/POWER source for the year 2024. The data as shown in Figure 4 indicates significant temperature fluctuations throughout the year, with maximum temperatures reaching as high as 46.22°C, peaking in May 2024. Between March and June, temperatures consistently ranged between 40.42°C and 46.22°C.
