Major Monsoon Preparation Activities: To combat the challenges posed by monsoons, the following activities are undertaken: 1. Sump Preparation: Construction or deepening of sumps of adequate capacity to collect rainwater and surface runoff. These sumps act as primary water reservoirs for dewatering operations. Typical sump preparation and pontoon-mounted pumping arrangements adopted at Khadia Opencast Project are shown in Figure 8. 2. Pumping Infrastructure: Installation and maintenance of high-capacity pumps to ensure timely evacuation of water from mine pits and low-lying areas, thus avoiding work disruptions (Figure 8).
