Benching of Overburden (OB) Dumps: Proper benching and stabilization of OB dumps are carried out to prevent erosion and sliding during intense rainfall. This also aids in systematic drainage. 4. Carpeting and Maintenance of Haul Roads: Main haul roads are graveled or carpeted to prevent waterlogging and ensure safe and smooth movement of heavy machinery and dumpers. 5. Construction and Cleaning of Garland Drains: New garland drains are constructed around OB dumps and mine pits, while existing ones are cleaned and deepened to effectively channel surface runoff away from working areas, illustrated in Figure 9. 6. Repairing Old Benches in Dumps: Existing benches are reinforced to prevent collapse and to facilitate proper water flow through designed pathways. 7. Table Top Water Coursing: Measures are taken to ensure that rainwater flows smoothly over dump tops without causing erosion, through proper grading and water course channels.
