Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) is being evaluated for deep, unmineable coal seams, enabling in-situ coal conversion to synthesis gas (syngas) while minimizing surface mining impacts, ash generation, and land requirements. During FY 2024– 25, feasibility and conceptual studies were advanced through subsidiaries and joint ventures, focusing on geological suitability, environmental risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
