ESG, CSR AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Coal India Limited’s (CIL) Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework is designed to embed sustainability, accountability, and inclusive growth into its corporate strategy and operational practices. The environmental pillar focuses on minimizing ecological impacts through compliance with statutory regulations, adoption of environmental management systems, pollution control technologies, biodiversity conservation, and progressive mine closure. These initiatives are guided by national environmental policies and aligned with international frameworks such as ISO 14001 and the principles of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), ensuring transparency and consistency in environmental performance reporting (Coal India Limited, 2024; ICMM, 2024). The ESG framework as shown at Figure 6.
