50 Figure 6 – ESG Framework Coal India Limited (CIL) implements the social dimension of its ESG framework through structured CSR initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life in mining-affected communities. Key areas include afforestation, healthcare, education, skill development, and livelihood support, addressing both immediate needs and long-term human capital development. In FY 2024–25, CIL’s CSR expenditure totaled ₹850.17 crore, exceeding statutory requirements under the Companies Act, 2013. Funds were primarily allocated to healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, education, and skill development, supporting flagship programmes such as the Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana and Nanha Sa Dil, reinforcing inclusive and sustainable development in coal-bearing regions.
