182 iii) To have TNFD as an umbrella for the company´s nature strategy and set transparency with investors for trust and engagement. This proposal looks forward to setting biodiversity and nature KPIs as key part for the sustainability understanding of the investment in the project, at CAPEX and OPEX level. The experience of Camisea Project shows the benefits for the company and the environment, including local communities. In the company side we identified the rehabilitation efficiency through the recovery footprint reduction rate, the percentage of key species with stable populations, among others. Regarding local communities and environment, water quality index / aquatic biota, number of early warnings detected by the PMB, among others that show direct benefits. These indicators are part of the current request of international banks and investors; it is not only recommended but also imperative to include this topic as part of due diligence and investment decision for successful and sustainable projects. KEYWORDS Sustainable investment, healthy mining ecosystem, local engagement, Nature Positive, IFC PS6, TNFD, Camisea Project, Stakeholder Engagement. CONTEXT AND PROBLEM STATEMENT The mining industry is key to the just energy transition, although its impact is undeniable, convening that we will need more minerals in the following years than in our previous 500 years. Most investors, conscious of this challenge, are looking for responsible projects that provide long-term profitability, comply with increasing regulation, and commit beyond legal parameters towards sustainable investment. In this sense, many boards of directors are requesting derisking projects through international standards. Among them, IFC provides an extensive guide with its Performance Standards, the PS6 directly related to Nature and Biodiversity. Besides, TNFD complementarily helps to link nature, water and biodiversity while climate change is addressed through TCFD (Task Force on Climate Financial Disclosure). Both, climate and nature are critical factors for mining development business. Although, derisking is a necessary step for projects, my proposal is to ensure this process with biodiversity engagement in the footprint of the project, connecting with the local communities, local authorities and potential investment partners to generate a nature positive legacy. In fact, adding biodiversity as a variable in the mining business equation, a hidden variable that could enhance others and upgrade the value of the final product. OBJECTIVES AND SCOPE The mining industry is facing globally the main challenge to produce more minerals without sacrificing the quality of processes and preventing nature impacts that could damage
