Efficient use of natural resources in operations, reducing energy consumption, water footprint, land use to reduce, reuse and recycle waste. • Water usage: the efficient use and management of water, promoting measures to reduce and/or recycle the resource, and continuous improvement and ongoing compliance of quality standards. • Biodiversity care: using recovery programs, protecting ecosystems and biodiversity with the mitigation hierarchy approach throughout the mining cycle; and promoting research and the involvement of public and/or private actors in the protection of ecosystems. Shared Value: It is important to consider the communities in the strategy to ensure the viability of any project in the future. MINSUR considers “Shared Value” as a fundamental principle that seeks joint growth together with our stakeholders and contribute to their economic and social development. This begins with the exploration phase and continues until the mine is closed. Building trust with communities in the area of influence and with stakeholders is key to the project's success. Fulfilling social investment commitments to improve quality of life and generate development opportunities in the community (in accordance with Framework Agreements) will be part of the project's scope and implementation plan. Another shared value practice to create trust is the construction of social infrastructure by using the "works for taxes" (Obras por impuestos) mechanism supported by the Peruvian government which allows for building infrastructure using the money that would be paid as taxes and is deducted from the total payable taxes of the company. 3.3.3. Understanding Technology shaping the mining for the future The adoption of new technologies must be strategic and bring real value to the project through the whole mine cycle, examining how new technological advances and innovative practices are reshaping mining operations to improve productivity, reliability and performance of the company. The first step is to understand which strategic elements of the project will require technological improvements: personnel safety, organizational productivity, asset productivity, process performance, and environmental performance. Next, the specific activities or subprojects that should improve the project's expected value are defined, and finally, the most suitable technology or application for generating an acceptable outcome is selected. This can be achieved through innovative technologies or by applying proven technologies at other scales. We tend to get excited about new technologies and their rapid transformation of the world. The project's vision should focus on concrete solutions to specific problems, while also providing the opportunity to innovate with technologies that may be mature enough by the time the project becomes operational. Artificial intelligence (AI) is not just a tool; it's a framework for improving project process performance, as more digital transformation applications are available for future projects. It's important to distinguish between the digital transformation tools that will be part of the project scope and those that will contribute to operational improvements once the project has stabilized
