The Roadmap helps project teams identify material ESG considerations early enough to influence project layout and development scenarios. The Roadmap positions early engagement as a collaborative process with stakeholders particularly local communities and Indigenous peoples, providing input into project concept development. It provides clarity on engagement objectives, stakeholder identification, and the timing and format of interactions. Alignment with frameworks such as UNDRIP (2007) and IFC Performance Standard 7 (2012) support culturally appropriate participation. By embedding engagement early, the Roadmap creates opportunities for community perspectives to be incorporated while project concepts remain flexible. In options analysis, the ESG Roadmap defines the ESG criteria and indicators incorporated into multicriteria decision making tools. Scenario analysis and modelling may assist evaluation of alternatives; however, the Roadmap provides the overarching structure linking these mitigation approaches to earlier baselining and stakeholder engagement activities. During construction, the ESG Roadmap is translated into the practical tools that guide site activities, including environmental and social management plans, monitoring frameworks, workforce strategies and cultural heritage protocols. It sets out the thresholds, triggers and response actions required to maintain compliance and deliver on commitments made in preceding phases. The Roadmap also contributes to alignment across contractors and subcontractors by clearly articulating ESG expectations. In the operational phase, the ESG Roadmap informs the selection of performance indicators, monitoring programs and reporting frameworks. It supports alignment with standards such as ISO 14001, IFC Performance Standard 1 and sector specific reporting guidelines including GRI 14: Mining. The Roadmap provides structure for variance analysis, community engagement processes and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to transparent and responsive ESG performance management. The ESG Roadmap embeds closure considerations from the outset and provides guidance for their refinement throughout the lifecycle.
