57 In Slovenia, we have relatively high potential of mineral resources, which, despite adequate coverage with geological data, is still poorly researched below the surface at depths below 500 meters. Slovenia has a good potential for non-metals and for metals at depths around 1,000 m, natural gas in the area of the Adriatic Sea and north-eastern part of Slovenia and in areas of Natura 2000 nature reservate (37,5% surface area of Slovenia), where research with classical research methods is very limited. After comparing the data on quantities of waste generated and the obtained quantities of mineral resources, we can quickly conclude that the quantities of mineral raw materials are 3 to 5 times the total amount of waste generated in Slovenia (see Figure 7.). The percentage of waste has been increasing since 2015, but it is mainly a result of smaller quantities of mineral raw materials obtained as a result of environmental issues and various bureaucratic obstacles (e.g. issues with extending mining concessions, etc.). With this data, of course, it is illusory to expect the supply of all necessary quantities of mineral and other raw materials in the future only from mass waste streams.
