Track 8: Safety, Social Performance and Talent Management

As mines continue to evolve technologically and operational demands intensify, the capability of training programs to produce competent, confident, and safety-conscious technicians will become a key differentiator for organizational success. Immersive learning technologies provide a pathway to meet this challenge—closing skills gaps, reducing time to competency, and strengthening workforce resilience. Ultimately, the mining companies that succeed in the coming decade will be those that embrace forward-thinking training strategies, invest in modern learning ecosystems, and leverage research-backed instructional methodologies. By doing so, they will not only prepare new hires for the complexities of the job but also empower the next generation of mining professionals to thrive in an industry that increasingly depends on technical excellence, adaptability, and innovation. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS I express sincere appreciation for my colleague Paul Jermyn who has shared my vision of how to use technology tools to their upmost. His hard work and most of all his innovation have been treasured assets to the growth of this knowledge and its application. REFERENCES Abenov, T., Franklin-Hensler, M., Grabbert, T., & Larrat, T.
